Over 475 pharmacies and 1,000 stores in Kharkiv have been equipped with alternative energy sources to operate during power outages, ensuring that residents can consistently access essential goods.

According to the city council, Kharkiv has more than 475 pharmacies and over 1,300 food and non-food stores supplied with alternative power sources. Additionally, 44 veterinary clinics/pharmacies and 146 gas stations are also equipped to maintain operations during blackouts.
This setup enables establishments to continue functioning even during blackouts caused by military actions or technical issues.
In 2024, the city saw the opening of 14 supermarkets, 30 grocery stores, a hypermarket for construction materials, home appliance stores, household goods outlets, and pharmacies. In Kharkiv, there are more than 530 pharmacies, 18 hypermarkets, 249 supermarkets, 46 shopping centers, 141 pet stores, and 53 veterinary clinics.
