The call for submissions for the first "Generation Nika" award has begun in Kharkiv.
According to "Dumka," this information was shared by the award organizers.
As per the organizers, young creators aged 16 to 21 are invited to submit their works.
To participate, candidates must send artistic texts (poetry, prose) or works in painting, graphics, digital art, along with their creative biography.
Applications are accepted from December 15 to February 15.
The award laureate is chosen in three stages:
1. In the first stage, a long list of candidates (7 individuals) is formed from the artistic works submitted for consideration by the Jury that meet the technical criteria of the award, announced no later than April 15,
2. In the second stage, the Jury members vote for the short list of the award (3 individuals), which will be published 10 days before the laureate's award ceremony on May 9,
3. In the third stage, Jury members select the award laureate through anonymous voting, with the name announced at the ceremony on May 19, the birthday of Veronika Kozushko.
The award laureate receives a "Generation Nika" statuette, a monetary prize, and a diploma.
The monetary prize for 2024 is 40,000 UAH.
Note: The award was established in 2024 in memory of the artist and poet Veronika Kozushko and all talented Ukrainian children who were killed by Russia.
Veronika Kozushko was a Kharkiv artist and poet who died as a result of a Russian missile strike on August 30, 2024. Veronika was part of the artistic community in the city that formed in the context of the full-scale invasion and daily Russian terror. Nika passed away at the age of 18, leaving behind a small yet vivid and expressive creative legacy—several dozen artistic works and an unfinished poetry manuscript.
The award is granted to Ukrainian artists and writers aged 16 to 21 for their creative spirit of concern, courage, and compassion.
