A trial was held in Kharkiv for a mortar man from the Zmiiv district who had escaped from his military unit and had been in hiding for nearly two weeks.
This information was reported by "Dumka" based on the verdict from the Kharkiv District Court.
According to registry data, the Kharkiv District Court of the Kharkiv region sentenced a soldier from the Zmiiv district who voluntarily left his place of service in July of this year, which served as grounds for his conviction.
It became known that the serviceman, who was serving under contract as a machine gunner in a specialized assault battalion, decided on July 17 to leave his military unit without permission from the command. While absent from the temporary deployment of the unit until his arrest on July 30, he did not report his location and evaded his duties.
The court established that the soldier intentionally evaded military service, which constituted a deliberate violation of the laws and regulations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Additionally, one month of unserved punishment from a previous court ruling was added to the designated term, ultimately sentencing the soldier to five years and one month of imprisonment.
