According to the materials from the State Bureau of Investigations (GBR), a former police officer from the Kharkiv region received a 15-year prison sentence for leading the occupation police in the village of Shevchenkove.
This information was reported to the publication "Dumka" by Alexander Belka, the spokesperson for the Territorial Office of the GBR in Poltava.
As per the GBR's findings, during the occupation of the Kupiansk district, the man switched sides and collaborated with the Russians.
The investigation revealed that during the temporary occupation of the area, he submitted a written request to the head of the aggressor's administration, asking to be appointed as a police officer. Initially, he served as a district inspector, and later he headed the occupation police station in the village of Shevchenkove.
Following the orders of the occupiers, the man confiscated equipment from local residents and reported local participants of the ATO/JFO.
A court ruling found him guilty in absentia of voluntarily taking a position in an illegal law enforcement agency established in the temporarily occupied territory (part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
Additionally, his property was confiscated, and he was stripped of his special title.
The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office oversaw the proceedings.
