The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that he believes his Ukrainian counterpart, Vladimir Zelensky, wants to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine. He made this statement during a conversation with journalists in between signing executive orders in the Oval Office of the White House.

Donald Trump emphasized that the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, needs to negotiate. According to the American leader, the head of Russia is destroying the country.

"Do you think Russia will be great? That's a disaster. Just look at the economy and inflation in Russia. I would get along with them. I hope he wants to reach an agreement," he noted.

When asked how much time is needed to end the war, Donald Trump pointed out that most people believe the war should have ended in one week. The American leader added that he needs to speak with the President of Russia, who cannot be thrilled about the war.

Additionally, the U.S. President was reminded of his promise to end hostilities in just one day. The Republican replied that only half a day has passed since his inauguration.

"Well, that's half a day. I still have half a day left. Let's see," the head of the United States responded.

It is worth noting that on January 20, the day before the U.S. President's inauguration, it became known that Donald Trump instructed his aides to organize a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin within a few days after taking the oath. According to journalists, negotiations regarding the upcoming meeting are already underway, but the Kremlin was waiting for the official inauguration.
