The U.S. exits the WHO and climate agreement: what decisions did Trump make at the start of his second term?

США покидают ВОЗ и климатическое соглашение: с каких шагов Трамп начал свой второй срок на посту президента?

The new president has signed an order for the United States to withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO). The document states that the United States "intends to exit the WHO".

Trump initiated the withdrawal from the WHO during his first term. His successor, Joe Biden, sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General on January 20, 2021, to cancel this decision—now Donald Trump has revoked that letter and resumed the process.

Additionally, Trump signed an order to declare a state of emergency in the U.S. energy sector. This includes increasing the extraction of oil and gas from domestic sources and reviving projects that were halted by the previous administration. The 47th president plans to lift the ban on liquefied gas exports, drilling in offshore waters, particularly in Alaska, and expedite the federal leasing program for mineral extraction.

Donald Trump is also initiating the United States' exit from the Paris Climate Agreement, which outlines measures to combat climate change. The new administration will reassess restrictions on carbon dioxide emissions and eliminate tax incentives for electric vehicles.

Moreover, Trump has suspended the federal ban on the Chinese social media platform TikTok for 75 days. During this period, American companies can use the platform without the risk of facing penalties.
