In Russia, amidst the staggering losses in Ukraine, a decision has been made regarding how to replenish the Armed Forces. In 2025, the focus is expected to be on the "special contingent." This information is reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

It is noted that this year, Russia plans to recruit no fewer than 126,000 soldiers from the so-called "special contingent" for the war against Ukraine.

"This refers to Russians who are serving prison sentences, are under investigation, have outstanding debts, and face other issues. On average, to cover the losses of the occupying army, Moscow plans to mobilize about 10,000 individuals from the 'special contingent' each month," the GUR explained.

Ukrainian intelligence reports that to replace the losses of existing military units and formations in the war against Ukraine, Russia intends to mobilize at least 280,000 occupiers in 2025.

Recall that Ukrainian General Nikolai Malomuzh explained that Putin wants to demonstrate results on the front, but can only boast about losses. The hidden mobilization has not produced the desired effect for the Kremlin.

It was also reported that on January 16, Putin signed a decree calling for the military assembly of reservists in the RF Armed Forces. It is specifically stated that this applies to all subjects of the Federation, and local authorities are expected to facilitate this to the maximum extent possible.
