During the night, temperatures in some regions of Ukraine dropped to -20 degrees, and the weather today will largely remain frosty throughout the day. There will be a small amount of snow, but icy conditions will cover the roads, reports meteorologist Natalia Didenko.
"It is still cold in Ukraine on Thursday," — states the specialist.
According to her, daytime temperatures will generally range from -1 to -6 degrees.
The night and morning brought light snow to the west and north. In the central regions, as well as in Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions, there will be some light snowfall throughout the day.
In the other areas, significant precipitation is not expected today; however, caution is advised on roads and sidewalks due to possible icy conditions.
In the capital, light snow fell overnight, but no heavy precipitation is expected afterward. From a nighttime low of -7 degrees, the temperature will rise to -5 during the day, with a maximum of -3.
Frosts are not expected to leave Ukrainians until next week. Warming, according to Didenko, is anticipated around February 25.
The Ukrainian Meteorological Center predicts an average daytime temperature ranging from -6 to -4 degrees. In the south and near the Carpathians, a slight increase in temperature is possible. In the west, east, and southeast, it will be cloudy with some clearings. In the central and northern regions, as well as in Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Transcarpathian areas, light snow is expected. A northern wind is forecasted at a speed of 5-10 m/s.
Recall that on February 18, meteorologist Natalia Ptukha from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center stated when it will warm up in Ukraine. According to her, this week and the upcoming weekend will bring the most frost and snow seen this winter.
On February 14, media reported that an international snowball fight tournament took place in Japan. More than 120 teams competed for the prize in the mountain town of Uonuma.
