The Kursk region is a significant front for Russia. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are attempting to assault Ukrainian troops in small groups; however, the latter are in a maneuverable defense and are holding their previously occupied positions. This was stated by senior officer of the communications department of the 80th separate airborne assault brigade, Pyotr Haidashchuk, during an interview on "Kiev24."

"The enemy is trying to launch attacks on us in small assault groups. We are managing to repel these assaults and inflict considerable losses on the Russians," he added.

According to the military, since the beginning of the Kursk operation, the Russians have started to concentrate their forces. Among them are various units of the naval infantry, airborne troops, and so-called fire teams, which are deployed in critical situations at important sections of the front.

"Kursk has become a critical section of the front for them, and they are increasingly involving reinforcements. We understand that Russia has a larger human resource, which means they have the capability to draw additional forces. The enemy also has advantages in artillery, as well as using armored vehicles and various types of unmanned aerial systems," Pyotr Haidashchuk explained.

He also reminded that the enemy has engaged North Korean soldiers and noted that their tactics significantly differ from those of the Russians. The military added that these units have been eliminated and are no longer present in this section of the front.

The General Staff reported that in Kursk, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 15 attacks from Russian invaders on February 11. The Russians also launched 40 air strikes using 56 guided bombs and conducted 634 artillery shellings of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and populated areas, including 29 from multiple launch rocket systems.

It is worth noting that on February 10, it became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine broke through 5 km into the depths of the Kursk region. At that time, the Defense Forces were fighting in two directions from Sudzha, attempting to regain control and secure three populated areas.

The next day, on February 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in an interview with The Guardian, stated that in the event of peace negotiations with the Russian Federation, Ukraine would propose to exchange the seized areas of the Kursk region for a portion of the territory occupied by the Russians. He did not specify which occupied territories he would demand to be returned in exchange for Kursk.
