The good thief Aladdin and the bad quad bikers: why parents fear their children's hobbies.

Blogger Anton Shvets expresses his astonishment at how contemporary parents are alarmed by their children's fascination with quad biking. He encourages adults to reflect on the animated films from their own childhood that featured positive characters, including villains, drag queens, and even more controversial figures.
Почему родители опасаются увлечений своих детей? Хороший вор Аладдин и плохие квадроберы – разница в подходах к развлечениям и их последствиям.

I'm laughing at how some modern parents are worried that their kids are exposed to quad biking propaganda (or whatever it's called) on social media, while you can spot quad bikers on the streets (really? where?) and stores sell all the gear needed to dive into this world.

But, dear parents, do you really have concerns about some kind of propaganda?

Do you even remember yourselves?

Just a reminder that in the hit Disney animated film from your childhood, "Beauty and the Beast," Belle DID NOT KNOW that the Beast was a cursed prince, and she voluntarily agreed to live with him, the bear or whatever he was. Yes, that's right. Was there any sort of quad biking propaganda here?

Moreover, the Beast kidnapped Belle's father. He released him in exchange for Belle agreeing to stay with him. Then her father searched for Belle in the woods and nearly froze, only for Belle to miraculously find out and save him.

Аладдин

In case you say that Disney is also propaganda, let me remind you that "Beauty and the Beast" is based on a medieval European fairy tale, where the plot wasn't much better. It has so much traditionalism that Disney takes a back seat.

Let's also remember that the plot of the equally popular movie "Mulan" revolves around a cross-dresser and transvestite who disguised herself as a man. Forced, yes, but it happened. The same story appears in the original Chinese tale of Hua Mulan, where men also dressed as women in the animated version.

The main character in "Aladdin" is a thief, and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" raises so many questions about all the characters that it's better not to ask them at all.

So, did this propaganda somehow affect you?

Of course, wearing a hoodie from heroin "Nirvana" and fighting neighborhood battles was the best pastime.

I can't argue with that.
