This academic year, educational institutions in the capital will commence winter break for students at the end of December. This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA).
The winter holidays for the 2024/2025 academic year are scheduled from December 23, 2024, to January 11, 2025. Additionally, first-grade students will have extra holidays from February 17 to February 22, 2025.
However, these dates may vary depending on the specific school, as educational institutions have the right to set their own exact holiday dates based on safety conditions, the needs of students, as well as weather and epidemiological factors.
It should be noted that in 2022, winter holidays in schools of the Kyiv region lasted an entire month, as the vast majority of general secondary education institutions moved their autumn break to the winter period.
Last year, winter holidays lasted from December 23 to January 7.
Additionally, on December 9, the Ministry of Education and Science (MON) announced new opportunities that will be available for students in grades 10-12. According to the ministry's decision, students will be divided into three different direction classes — language and literature, social and humanitarian, and STEM. Children will attend core classes in their profile and will be able to choose courses from other directions, as stated by the ministry.
