In Ivano-Frankivsk, authorities have uncovered and detained a resident of Kharkiv who reported a "bomb threat" at a shopping center.

This information was provided by the Ivano-Frankivsk regional prosecutor's office, as reported by "Dumka".

According to the prosecutor's office, the Kharkiv resident, collaborating with an accomplice, set up special equipment in his apartment in Kharkiv to disseminate false bomb threat messages for money. In November 2024, he called the call center of one of the retail establishments in Ivano-Frankivsk and claimed that an explosion was being prepared in the premises. However, after verifying the report, it turned out to be false.

Subsequently, the identity of the false bomber was established and he was detained. Currently, his involvement in similar crimes and cooperation with the Russian Federation is being investigated, along with identifying his accomplices. He faces up to six years in prison. The Ivano-Frankivsk prosecutor's office has charged the 41-year-old Kharkiv resident with complicity in knowingly false reporting of threats to the safety of citizens and destruction or damage to property (part 5 of article 27 and part 1 of article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
