A man has been detained in Kharkiv for threatening police officers with a firearm.
This information was reported by the communications department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region, as conveyed by "Dumka".
According to the police, the perpetrator obstructed investigative actions and confronted officers with an automatic weapon in hand. He was apprehended while attempting to descend from his tenth-floor apartment via the balconies.
On November 21 at 10:40, the police received a report that a 39-year-old man was threatening law enforcement with a weapon. Officers arrived at the Kharkiv resident's address to conduct a sanctioned search, but were met with an inadequate response and threats involving a firearm. The suspect barricaded himself and issued threats with the weapon.
Subsequently, he was apprehended by Special Forces while trying to escape from the apartment through the balconies. The 39-year-old man was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, military ammunition, or explosive substances) and Article 348 (Assault on the life of a law enforcement officer) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
