In Kharkiv, efforts are underway to expand and enhance the electric transport network.
This information is reported by the Kharkiv City Council, as conveyed by "Dumka".
According to the city council, local authorities have secured agreements for funding from foreign partners to purchase electric buses. There are also plans to upgrade the rolling stock of the metro system.
"We have not halted the construction of the metro. I hope that next year we will begin building an underground electric depot designed for 100 trains. Additionally, we plan to add two more metro stations," said Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov.
He mentioned that he has held talks with the European Investment Bank, which has confirmed its readiness to assist Kharkiv in this regard. After all, electric buses are not only more environmentally friendly but also significantly cheaper to operate.
