In Kharkiv, a man stole cigarettes worth 4,000 UAH, according to the police.

In a supermarket in Kharkiv, a man stole a pack of cigarettes worth a total of 4,000 UAH.

This was reported by the communication department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, as conveyed by "Dumka".

According to the police, an unidentified man stole a pack of cigarettes from a shelf in the supermarket and walked past the checkout area without paying for the item. Security personnel stopped the bold smoker at the exit.

The perpetrator turned out to be a 47-year-old man with a previous conviction for theft.

In connection with this incident, investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under Article 15, Part 4 of Article 185 (attempted theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The penalty for this article provides for imprisonment for a term of 5 to 8 years.

The man has been informed of the suspicion of committing a crime.
