Ukrainians may lose their subsidy due to a relative: what is the reason?

If it is discovered that any family member is residing abroad and the subsidy recipient has not informed the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) about this, the assistance will be terminated.
Украинцы рискуют потерять субсидию из-за своих родственников: в чем причина?

Citizens whose utility expenses exceed the established mandatory payment are eligible for a subsidy. This support is particularly important during the winter months. However, there is a risk that some citizens may lose their right to receive this assistance. This was reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

Due to military actions, many Ukrainians have been forced to leave their homes, with many relocating abroad. However, some may have forgotten to notify the Pension Fund about a family member's departure overseas, which could affect their eligibility for the subsidy.

If a family member has been abroad for more than 60 days, they will not be considered in the subsidy calculation. Their income, as well as housing standards and utility norms, will not be taken into account. For example, if three people are registered in a household, but the wife and child have been abroad for over 60 days, the subsidy will only be allocated to the husband.

"At the same time, if individuals applying for a subsidy fail to notify the Pension Fund of Ukraine about any household member being abroad for more than 60 days, and the subsidy was calculated including that person, the housing subsidy payments will cease, and any excess funds will need to be returned by the recipient," the PFU explains.

The subsidy recipient is obligated to inform the Pension Fund of Ukraine about a household member leaving the country for more than 60 days during the period for which the subsidy is granted. They have a 30-day period to do so. However, there are special rules for residents of certain regions. They must contact the Pension Fund of Ukraine within a month of the cancellation or termination of martial law in Ukraine. This rule applies to the city of Kyiv and the following regions:

  • Volyn;
  • Dnipropetrovsk;
  • Donetsk;
  • Zhytomyr;
  • Zaporizhzhia;
  • Kyiv;
  • Luhansk;
  • Mykolaiv;
  • Odesa;
  • Sumy;
  • Kharkiv;
  • Kherson;
  • Chernihiv.

If it is established that any family member was outside the country and the subsidy recipient did not inform the PFU, the assistance will be terminated, and any overpaid funds will need to be returned. The subsidy may be reinstated only after a new application is submitted at the beginning of the heating or non-heating season.

We remind you that the amount of payments for internally displaced persons is 2,000 hryvnias per month for adults and 3,000 hryvnias for children or individuals with disabilities.
