In Kharkiv, an in-person session must be held to elect the city council secretary, as voting for the candidate is conducted in person and via ballots.
This was stated by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov in a comment to the "Dumka" correspondent today, January 3, in response to a question about when the city council will have a secretary.
He noted that the current security situation does not allow for an in-person session to take place.
"I am in favor! As soon as security measures allow, we will gather immediately," Terekhov said. "There is no question about electing a city council secretary, but he is elected by ballots. This is not up to me."
When asked if he knew the whereabouts of Kharkiv city council deputies, former OPZZh members Andriy Lesik and Andriy Spassky, the mayor replied: "No, I don’t know."
Terekhov also mentioned that Lesik has not participated in the online sessions, "as for Andriy Spassky, we need to check the registration; I think he attended, but I don’t remember."
Recall that since its election at the end of 2021, the Kharkiv city council has been operating in a mode of extraordinary sessions, as at the first regular session the mayor must put the candidacy of the city council secretary to a vote.
