In Wisconsin (USA), a 10-year-old boy called 911 with an unexpected request: to help him with his math homework. This was reported by UPI.
According to the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office, the child made the call because his family was unable to solve the problem.
"He explained that his family 'isn't very good at math' and he urgently needed help," the social media post stated.
Dispatcher Kim Krause, who took the call, explained to the boy that 911 is meant for emergencies, not schoolwork. Nevertheless, she showed compassion and decided to try to help.
"She asked, 'Can I help you with the problem?' However, when the child posed a complex question involving decimals, she admitted she couldn’t manage it and decided to find a sheriff's deputy nearby," Sheriff George Lentzner recounted.
Deputy Sheriff Chase Mason was nearby and agreed to assist.
"Personally, I'm not very strong in math, but I couldn't turn him down," he noted.
Mason met with the boy, understood the problem, and was able to help solve it. Afterward, he left the child a business card, advising him to use the non-emergency line in the future if the situation wasn’t life-threatening.
"This incident reminds us that we are always ready to help, but emergency lines should remain open for real emergencies," the sheriff's office remarked.
It was also reported that a couple sued their nanny for quitting. David Aaron and Gloria Garofalo shared that their children had grown accustomed to the young woman and felt safe with her. They stated that her sudden departure was a source of stress for them.
