The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 11 strike drones of the "Shahed" type and unidentified drones were launched from the Kursk region by the enemy. Eight strike drones were shot down by air defense in the Poltava, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions. Three drones were lost locally.
5The Air Force also noted that Russia attacked the Sumy region with two "Iskander-M" ballistic missiles and an X-59 guided aerial missile.
"On the night of November 18, 2024 (from 19:30 on November 17), the enemy attacked the Sumy region with two "Iskander-M" ballistic missiles from the Voronezh region and an X-59 guided aerial missile from the airspace of the Kursk region, Russia," the statement said.
As a result of the attack, 11 people were killed, including two children. This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
"The number of injured due to the missile strike on Sumy has increased to 89 people, including 11 children," the statement said.
The Sumy Regional Military Administration added that individuals sustained injuries of varying severity. Eleven people are in intensive care, including six children.

Additionally, the enemy launched a missile strike on the critical infrastructure of Sumy during the night. The regional OGA reported on the power outage in the city.
"At 00:10 this morning, the enemy launched a missile strike (likely a ballistic missile) on the critical infrastructure of the city of Sumy. Power has now gone out in the city. Emergency services are working. The consequences of the strike are being assessed," the statement said.
Recall that on November 17, Russia carried out a massive combined strike on Ukraine using cruise, ballistic, hypersonic missiles, as well as drones. A significant portion of the regions of Ukraine were targeted. Attacks were recorded in Kyiv, Odesa, Poltava, Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, as well as in Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Lviv, and other regions.
