Russian propagandist killed near Donetsk: what we know (photos)

Russians were assured that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly targeted a civilian vehicle from a considerable distance away from the front lines. Additionally, four enemy war correspondents were injured.

Near Donetsk, Russian war correspondent Alexander Martemyanov was killed while working as a freelance reporter for the publication "Izvestia." This was reported on January 4 by "RIA Novosti."

Russian journalist Maxim Romanenko stated from the scene that a Ukrainian FPV drone attacked a vehicle carrying military personnel on the Donetsk — Horlivka road. After reflecting on the aftermath of shelling in Horlivka, they were returning to the city when the vehicle was struck by a kamikaze drone.

There is information about one fatality — Martemyanov, along with RIA Novosti journalist Mikhail Kevkhiyev and three other employees from enemy media outlets. Romanenko himself suffered a concussion and facial abrasions. He assured that the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly targeted a civilian vehicle far from the frontline.

The publication "Izvestia" confirmed the death of the correspondent as a result of the drone strike on the vehicle on the Donetsk — Horlivka road.

"The civilian car, which the journalist was in, was attacked by a Ukrainian drone. Martemyanov died from his injuries," the editorial team stated.

The Russian outlet "RBC" noted that Martemyanov had previously come under fire in Ukraine in October 2023. At that time, he and two other journalists from "Izvestia" were injured in one of the areas of Donetsk.

At that time, Martemyanov was working as a cameraman. Medical personnel reported that he sustained penetrating wounds to both thighs.

It should be noted that military observer from the publication Bild, Julian Röpke, stated that the RF Armed Forces could reach the Dnipropetrovsk region within a few weeks. According to him, fighting is already taking place just 7 kilometers from the administrative borders of the region.

On January 4, the press service of the 79th Air Assault Brigade reported that the exchange fund was replenished with 14 Russian occupiers. All of them were captured by only two paratroopers.
