"National Cashback": How Ukrainians Most Frequently Spend Their Received Funds

Currently, 3.8 million citizens have opened 4.2 million "National Cashback" cards.

A significant portion of the funds returned through the “National Cashback” program is being used by Ukrainians to top up their mobile accounts and pay for utility services. Additionally, a considerable share of expenses is allocated to internet and medical services. This information was reported by the Ministry of Economy.

Currently, Ukrainians are not in a hurry to spend the received funds. As of the end of October, among those who received payouts for that month:

  • about 120 thousand people have spent it;
  • more than 500 thousand are holding funds in their accounts.

“The nature of the spending is explained by the small amounts of cashback accumulated in September. On average, it is 57.5 UAH per person,” the statement said.

Overall, among those who did spend the funds, around half used them to top up their mobile accounts. Additionally:

  • 35% paid for utility services;
  • the rest covered internet, transportation, and food services.

“The total cashback paid out for September amounted to 37.2 million UAH. … In October, Ukrainians have already accumulated three times more – approximately 125 million UAH. These funds will be disbursed at the end of November. The amount accumulated in the first half of November has already surpassed the figures from October,” the ministry reported.

By mid-November, it was recorded that 3.8 million citizens had registered 4.2 million “National Cashback” cards. However, only 2.5 million Ukrainians activated them in the “Dія” app.

“To receive cashback, activating the card for payments in Dія is mandatory,” the Ministry of Economy reminded.

At the end of August, it became known that cashback could be obtained starting September 2 through the mobile application “Dія”. According to this program, citizens should receive 10% compensation on purchases of Ukrainian-made goods.
