Broke his vow: a man in China has been arrested for abandoning his wife, who is battling cancer.

A scandal has erupted in China after a man, known by the surname Feng, abandoned his wife Wang just two months after their wedding when she was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer. His actions sparked a wave of criticism on social media, especially after he was condemned by a court in Anhui province. This was reported by SCMP.

The couple got married in 2022, but soon after the wedding, the young couple's life took a drastic turn. Wang was diagnosed with late-stage cancer. Initially, Feng cared for his ill wife, but after a few months, he started using business trips to another city as an excuse to evade responsibility. All attempts by Wang's family to reach him through calls, messages, and even the police were unsuccessful.

While Wang underwent prolonged treatment, she was forced to borrow money to pay for expensive medical services. Despite all her efforts, the woman passed away after spending over 200 days in the hospital.

Wang's family filed a lawsuit against Feng, accusing him of neglecting his duty to care for his wife and not contributing to her medical expenses. Furthermore, the man suggested divorce twice while his wife was gravely ill. Wang's father condemned his son-in-law for his behavior, labeling it as "vicious" and noting that the family had repeatedly tried to reach out to him in vain.

The Shitai District Court sentenced Feng to one year of probation, citing his inaction and violation of marital duties. After lengthy negotiations with the deceased's family, Feng obtained their forgiveness.

The story has generated significant attention on Chinese social media, with many users condemning Feng for his inhumane treatment.

"He left his wife when she needed him the most. This is unacceptable," wrote one commenter. Others described his actions as "immoral" and "cold-blooded."

It was also reported that a woman married a man who forgot about their breakup after suffering a concussion.
