80-year-old Alexander Klimenko from Dnipro has built a bike generator, which ensures that his home always has electricity during rolling blackouts. This is mentioned in a report by "TSN".
The bike generator, crafted by the man himself, operates on a simple principle: burn calories — generate electricity. Just 15 minutes of pedaling provides approximately 4-5 hours of power for the house.
"You can power a tablet, a refrigerator, or even a boiler. Anything is possible, but it all depends on who has stronger legs," Alexander explains.
The bike generator cost him 3,500 UAH.
"I made the generator with a friend, and I bought the inverter for 500 UAH online. I used an old bicycle and found some outdated devices," Alexander clarified.
Additionally, the man has solar panels and a wind turbine on his private property. So while his acquaintances were left in the dark during previous outages, Alexander and his wife benefited from the bike generator and suffered no consequences from the earlier blackouts.
"I don’t need the grid," the man emphasized.
Recall that on November 15, former Ukrainian Energy Minister Ivan Plachkov stated that under the worst-case scenario this winter, power outages could last up to five days.
On November 13, due to a deficit in the energy system, power limitation schedules were introduced in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
