Today, the Orthodox Church commemorates the memory of the Christian martyr Catherine of Alexandria. According to church traditions, an angel appeared to her in a dream and presented her with a wedding ring from Christ. Catherine entered a pagan temple to urge Emperor Maximin to renounce idolatry. For this, she was subjected to torture. During her suffering, the angel destroyed one of the instruments of torture. The ruler's wife witnessed this and also converted to Christianity. She was killed alongside Catherine.
