Elon Musk's megaraft Starship exploded during a test flight. Check out the video!

On Friday, January 17, the world's most powerful rocket, Starship, was launched from SpaceX's launch site in Texas as part of its seventh test flight. Although the upper section of the mega rocket, namely the Starship spacecraft or simply Ship, successfully separated from the lower section, which is the Super Heavy booster, it exploded over the Atlantic Ocean a few minutes after launch, according to Space.

The Starship mega rocket is the largest and most powerful rocket in the world, standing at 121 meters tall when assembled. Following the launch during the seventh test flight, there was a successful separation of the Super Heavy booster and the Ship spacecraft. It was intended to enter orbit, circle the Earth, and land in the Indian Ocean.

A few minutes after liftoff, the Super Heavy booster successfully returned to the launch pad, where the launch tower's arms caught it and returned it to its original position. This marks the second time SpaceX has achieved this feat. It is a significant accomplishment, as both the lower and upper sections of the Starship mega rocket are reusable, demonstrating that they can safely return for future missions.

However, issues arose with the Ship spacecraft, which is 52 meters tall. Initially, it flew normally and managed to ignite six of its engines. But approximately eight minutes after launch, the ship's engines caught fire, resulting in a loud explosion over the Atlantic Ocean near the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The cause of the disaster is still unknown, but SpaceX has stated that it has already begun an investigation into the incident. The company founded by Elon Musk reported that something went wrong with the spacecraft's propulsion system, which was an unexpected event.

The explosion of the Starship's upper section created an incredible celestial display, witnessed by many in the area who shared photos and videos of the disaster on social media platform X.

Elon Musk plans to utilize the Starship mega rocket for the first manned missions to Mars. The billionaire aims to send not only astronauts to the Red Planet but also, in the future, ordinary people who could help establish the first city on Mars. Musk has previously stated that the first flight to Mars could occur within this decade. Additionally, a version of the Starship spacecraft will be used as a landing module for NASA astronauts who are set to land on the Moon in mid-2027.

However, SpaceX must do everything possible for the next Starship spacecraft flight to successfully reach space and return safely. Given that the first stage of the Starship rocket has already demonstrated its reliability, it is now essential for the second stage to do the same.
