This is stated in a report by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), as reported by Glavpost.
Experts note that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have made some progress, but Russian troops are also demonstrating activity, trying to maintain their positions and launch counterattacks.
According to ISW data, Ukrainian military conducted mechanized assaults towards Berdin and Novosotnitsky (northeast of Sudzhi). The attacks were carried out in three waves utilizing armored vehicles, with a total strength of about a battalion. Additionally, Ukrainian forces have intensified operations around Leonidovo (southeast of Korenev) and launched an offensive near Pushkarnoye (east of Sudzhi).
Geolocation data from January 5 indicate that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have advanced to the southwest and south of Berdin and have entered the southern part of this locality. Furthermore, analysts highlight that Ukrainian troops have gained control over Cherkasskoye Porechnoe, Martynovka, and Mikhaylovka, located northeast of Sudzhi.
“Ukrainian military are demonstrating strategic persistence by conducting attacks in small groups and utilizing mechanized units. This indicates adaptation to the current situation on the front,” the ISW report states.
