The situation in the U.S. is reported by Glavpost,
1. Protests and Their Characteristics
The protests were held under the slogans “Not My Presidents' Day” and “No Kings on Presidents' Day.” The latter slogan was a response to an image of Trump wearing a royal crown, which was released by the White House. Despite the cold and snowstorms, thousands of people took to the streets, holding signs and chanting slogans. In some states, demonstrators were unable to enter government buildings, as was the case in Arizona.
2. Musk as a Symbol of Trumpism
Protesters criticized not only the current administration but also its public supporters, including Elon Musk. Even during previous protests in early February, there were calls to send the entrepreneur to Mars. This indicates that Musk is seen as part of the conservative movement and closely aligned with Trump.
3. Key Slogans of the Protesters
Among the signs and chants, one could see:
– “This is a coup!”
– “Cowards bow to Trump, patriots, rise up!”
– “Immigrants make America great again!”
One of the iconic signs depicted Uncle Sam with the message: “I want you to resist.”
4. Counter-Demonstrations in Support of Trump
At the same time, rallies in support of the president took place in West Palm Beach. His supporters gathered near the Trump International Golf Club, demonstrating their backing for the administration's policies.
The mass protests in the U.S. highlight that public opinion remains polarized. Presidents' Day became an occasion for both opponents and supporters of the current government to actively express their views.
