U.S. President Donald Trump has officially confirmed his communication with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but he declined to disclose the details of their conversation. According to the American leader, Washington is taking significant steps towards ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.
This was reported by Glavpost, citing Reuters.
In an interview with reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump stated that the U.S. is actively negotiating with both sides of the conflict.
“We are maintaining contact with both Kyiv and Moscow, and I believe we are making progress. We want to stop the Ukrainian-Russian war,” he noted.
The President confirmed that a conversation with Putin did indeed take place, marking this contact as the first official communication between the leaders of the two countries since the beginning of 2022. However, Trump emphasized that he does not intend to delve into the details.
“Yes, there was a conversation. Let’s say I had… And I expect to have many more conversations. We need to put an end to this war,” he stated.
Despite persistent questions from journalists, the American leader stressed that he prefers not to discuss the content of the dialogue.
“I don’t want to talk about the conversations,” Trump added, maintaining intrigue around the interaction between Washington and Moscow.
The confirmation of this dialogue serves as an important signal for the international community, especially in the context of the ongoing conflict. The United States is actively working to strengthen diplomacy by maintaining communication with both sides of the conflict, which could be a step toward reducing tensions in the region.
