Why does Trump call for elections in Ukraine, and what impact could this have on the conflict with Russia?

History demonstrates that holding elections during wartime is nearly impossible. This is one of the most undemocratic processes, as a state of war necessitates a concentration of power and swift decision-making. Even in the United States, which currently advocates for elections in Ukraine, there was no challenge to Franklin Roosevelt's leadership during World War II, despite the attack on Pearl Harbor.

This is one of the most undemocratic processes, as a state of war necessitates a concentration of power and quick decision-making. Even in the United States, which currently advocates for elections in Ukraine, no one questioned Franklin Roosevelt's leadership during the height of World War II, despite the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The reason the U.S. has begun to insist on elections in Ukraine is reported by Glavpost, citing the Telegram channel Yigal Leven.

It is noteworthy that Washington demands elections in Ukraine but does not make similar demands of Russia, where power has long been concentrated in the hands of one individual. This indicates not a struggle for democracy, but rather dissatisfaction with the current Ukrainian leadership from the U.S. side.

It is worth mentioning that recently Trump made a provocative statement regarding Zelensky's approval rating of 4%.

Vladimir Zelensky remains an uncomfortable figure for Vladimir Putin and possibly for Donald Trump. The former is an experienced intelligence officer, while the latter is a prominent businessman. Both are accustomed to power and understand its value. To them, Zelensky is merely a comedian from Kryvyi Rih, which breeds a certain disdain.

Risks of Elections During War

One of the primary risks of holding elections is the potential rise to power of a pro-Russian candidate. In wartime, the populace tends to lean towards those who promise peace at any cost rather than those willing to continue the arduous struggle.

The example of Israel shows that even in the most militarized societies, people will not voluntarily go to war if mandatory service is abolished. Therefore, voting during wartime often leads to a weakening of the military and the state as a whole.

Why Putin Wants a Change of Power in Ukraine

Russians are already claiming that Zelensky is illegitimate and that elections must be held. However, the issue is not legitimacy, but rather that the Kremlin understands that under current circumstances, Ukrainians are likely to choose a leader who promises a swift end to the war, which is beneficial to Russia.

Thus, the U.S. demand for elections in Ukraine plays into Moscow's hands. If Washington truly supports Kyiv, it would be more logical to acknowledge that now is not the time for democratic procedures when the very existence of the state is at stake.

In this context, let us remind you of the outcomes of the meeting between representatives of the RF and the USA in Saudi Arabia: Trump's conclusions.
