Men are eager to return to Ukraine en masse despite the war, but there's a catch, says Chernyshev.

Half of the men of conscription age living abroad are willing to return to Ukraine if the issue of deferment is resolved. The primary deterrent remains the fear of being sent to the front lines.
Несмотря на войну, мужчины стремятся вернуться в Украину, но есть один важный нюанс, отмечает Чернышов.
50% of conscription-age men living abroad are willing to return to Ukraine provided the issue of conscription is resolved. The primary deterrent remains the fear of being sent to the front lines.

As reported by Glavpost, this was stated by the Minister of National Unity, Alexey Chernyshov, at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada committee on December 23.

“Half of the men are ready to return to Ukraine right now if the threat of mobilization is lifted. Today, this issue is what keeps many of them abroad,” the minister declared.

Initiatives to support citizens overseas were also discussed. One of the key ideas was the establishment of “Unity Hubs” — assistance centers that will provide services for employment, military document processing, and coordination of volunteer activities.

These hubs will also focus on developing educational and social initiatives, supporting Ukrainian communities, and assisting the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Chernyshov emphasized that the volunteer activity of Ukrainians abroad plays a crucial role in supporting the country and requires effective coordination.
