An explosion occurred on Ryazansky Avenue in Moscow, resulting in the death of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, the head of the radiation, chemical, and biological protection forces of the Russian Armed Forces. According to sources, the Ukrainian Security Service has claimed responsibility for the elimination.

This was reported by Glavpost, referencing newsoboz.org.

Preliminary information indicates that the explosive device was placed on an electric scooter parked near the entrance of a residential building. At the moment when Kirillov and his assistant were approaching the building, the device detonated. As a result, both died on the spot. Russian emergency services confirmed the details of the incident, but Kremlin officials are refraining from comments.

The Ukrainian side considers Kirillov a "legitimate target" in the context of the full-scale war. As noted by a source within the security forces, the general issued orders for the use of prohibited chemical weapons against Ukrainian defenders.

"Retribution for his crimes was inevitable. Such an end awaits all who are involved in the killings of Ukrainians," he added.

According to the materials of the SBU investigation, over 4,800 instances of chemical munitions containing CN and CS—tear gas agents—have been recorded under Kirillov's leadership since the war began. This has been reported multiple times by both Ukrainian law enforcement and Russian media. Kirillov has been charged in absentia with committing war crimes.
