The administration of Donald Trump demanded that Ukraine transfer 50% of the country's rare earth minerals to the United States. According to Trump, this was intended to be compensation for the financial aid provided to Kyiv. However, the Ukrainian side refused to fulfill the agreement, which led to dissatisfaction in Washington.

This was reported by Main Post, referencing a YouTube channel of the White House.

“We had an agreement on rare earth metals, but they broke it two days ago,” Trump stated during a speech broadcasted by the White House.

He also emphasized that the U.S. has invested significantly more in supporting Ukraine than Europe has. According to him, the difference amounts to about 200 billion dollars. He noted that European countries provide assistance in the form of loans with guarantees of repayment, whereas the U.S. simply allocates funds without seeking compensation.

Trump criticized the previous U.S. administration, claiming it allowed unfavorable economic conditions where Europe reaped financial benefits without sharing resources.

This conflict highlights the importance of rare earth metals in the global economy. Ukraine possesses substantial reserves of these minerals, which are essential for the production of electronics, military equipment, and high-tech products.
