Macron made this announcement during a joint press conference with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington. The details are reported by Glavpost.
According to Macron, if a peace agreement is reached between Ukraine and Russia, but Moscow violates its terms, it will lead to conflict with every country involved in the peace process.
“In the event that Russia violates the agreement, it will find itself in opposition to all the countries that facilitated its conclusion,” the French leader noted.
Macron emphasized that such a development poses a threat not only to Ukraine but to the entire European continent. He assured that the U.S. and Europe would act as a united front to ensure the region's security.
“Today we stand at a decisive moment, which is different from the events of 2014. Europe and the U.S. are ready to jointly support peace. This is not just diplomacy; it is a matter of our shared security,” he added.
The French President also pointed out that the protection of Ukraine is directly linked to the security of the European Union itself.
“I tirelessly repeat: this is not just about protecting Ukraine, but about safeguarding all of Europe. We live just 1500-2000 kilometers away from Ukraine. That is too close to remain indifferent. Therefore, ensuring peace is our collective responsibility,” Macron concluded.
